EMUs Desiro will operate six more trains between Sofia and Pernik

As of tomorrow (20-th February) the new EMUs Desiro will operate six more regional trains between Sofia and Pernik. This becomes possible with the new scheme for enhancement of train connections in the region of Sofia. The timetables of some trains will be changed as well.

BDZ ĹŔÄ resume services for “Kremikovtsi”

At the meeting between the management teams of “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD and the metallurgical plant “Kremikovtsi” an agreement was reached on the scheme for the disbursement of liabilities of the plant to the railway carrier. The meeting between the management teams of the two companies was held in the office of the Deputy Minister of transport, Georgi Petarneichev.

The first two EMUs Desiro start regular service

As of tomorrow the first two electric multiple units (EMU) Desiro start regular service and will serve a total of seven of regional trains around Sofia. The new EMUs will replace the current composition of these trains, which consisted of passenger coaches or traditional electric trainsets

Additional trains between Sofia and Pleven during Christmas season

With a view to the improvement of passenger services and due to increased demand for tickets for the route Sofia – Pleven – Sofia during Christmas season, “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD will launch two additional fast trains along this route. The additional trains will operate on 21st, 22nd, 26th and 29th December 2007, as well as on 1st January 2008.

The first two EMUs of Siemens arrived

On 16th December the first two electric multiple units (EMU) “Desiro” of Siemens arrived in Bulgaria. Their delivery is in compliance with the contract between “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD and Siemens for the procurement of 25 new EMUs.

“Bulgarian State Railways” EAD will provide additional coaches for the Christmas season

In order to improve transport services during Christmas season and New Year holidays, in the period between 21st December 2007 and 3rd January 2008, “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD will provide additional coaches for the compositions of some trains in compliance with the capacity of the passenger coach fleet. Over 16 000 additional seats will be available in the trains for the whole period.

Broken catenary line still blocks trains in the Balkan

Catenary line between Tryavna and Krustec is still not repaired and train traffic remains impossible. In addition, the catenary line in the next section between Krustec and Radunci also became dysfunctional.

Vandal attempts against the rolling stock of Bulgarian State Railways EAD continue

Yesterday, about 09:30 a.m., one of the newly delivered from Germany passenger coach of Bulgarian State Railways EAD was thrown stones at by unknown persons. The incident happened on its way to the National Research Institute on Transport where it had to be certified for technical fitness necessary for its operation within the rail transport system.

Trains are redirected due to vandal attempt to steal catenary line

As of 01:10 hrs this morning train traffic between Kazichene and Musachevo has been cancelled due to a vandal attempt to steal catenary line in result of which 500 m of catenary wire were broken. This is the fifth similar case for the last week. Thefts of catenary wire result in the lack of voltage in the catenary line network which makes it impossible to operate trains in the section and train compositions are redirected via other routes.
