The Europe – Asia Tariff

Parties to this tariff are the following railways:
• Albanian Railways (HSH)
• Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ)
• Hellenic Railways (CH)
• Yugoslavian Railways (JZ)
• Railways of the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonian (CFARYM)
• Turkish State Railways (TCDD)
• Romanian Railways (CFR)
• Syrian Railways (CFS)
• Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran (RAI).

The Tariff applies on direct freight traffic between the participating countries and transit traffic through them under the following regulation documents:
• The Uniform Rules Concerning the Contract for International Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM);
• The instructions and provisions of the present Tariff;
• The instructions and provisions of the internal tariffs of the railway administrations concerned, in so far as they do not contradict the Uniform Rules Concerning the Contract for International Carriage of Goods by Rail (CIM) and the above-mentioned other regulations and provisions.

The Tariff remains open for any other railway administration, provided it accepts its provisions. Announcements related to the Tariff of BDZ EAD are published in Tariff News. The official language of the Tariff is French and communication between member railways on tariff issues shall take place only in French.

Amendments and additions to the Tariff are published by the Leading Railway administration not later than 15 days before their entry into force. Romanian Railways (CFR) is the current leader.

The freight rates and ancillary charges shown in this tariff are in EURO. Goods placed for forwarding with a single Consignment Note are considered as one consignment. The freight cost is calculated separately for each consignment. The freight charges depend on:
• The nature of the goods (the class of the goods);
• The weight of the consignment;
• The type of the wagon allocated;
• The traffic distance for which the tariff rate is applied.

The minimum chargeable weight is 5 000 kg per axle of the wagon used.
The freight price is calculated according to the single freight rate shown in the table with singular prices in Part III for every railway administration and for the different classes and provisional weights.
The freight costs (freight prices and ancillary charges) are payable by the clients in BG Lev according the currency rate of exchange announced by the Bulgarian National Bank on the day of:
• Concluding the particular agreement for carriage at the forwarding railway station;
• Arrival of the consignment at the receiving station;
• Crossing the exit border station – for transit consignments.
