|  | Hand luggage can be left for keeping in special premises; the service is available at 49 railway stations for a charge of 2 levs per item for a 24-hour period as of the moment when the luggage was submitted for keeping.
The working hours of the left luggage offices conform to the train timetable.
Items of personal belonging and other objects that are allowed for rail transportation as hand luggage are also received for keeping.
Hand luggage with a value of over 50 levs received for keeping must have its value declared and a list of the items must be attached in two copies, validated by the station official. Received for keeping are items with a declared value of up to 200 levs at the most. The passenger is charged for the value of the luggage declared at the rates for the booking of parcels.
Luggage is kept for a period of up to 5 days. As an exception, this period can be extended to 30 days at the most. After the expiry of this term, the luggage is considered unattended and is liquidated (sold or destroyed). Luggage that contains perishable products is liquidated according to the railways’ estimate before the completion of the period.
If luggage is claimed after the 30-day period and if it has not been liquidated, it is released against payment at twice the price for the whole period of keeping.
Luggage that turns out to contain arms, explosives and other items and materials that are not allowed for transportation is immediately transferred to the authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the passenger is fined 25 levs for failure to observe the rules for transportation.
In cases of missing items or parts of items and/or damages of luggage left at the left luggage office of the railway station, the Railways pay:
1. If the item is completely missing and there is a value declared – the sum of the value declared. If, however, there is proof that the value of the items described was lower, the sum of the proven value is paid.
2. If there is partial missing of luggage – proportionally to the missing part, under the conditions of article 1.;
3. For luggage damage – the value of the damage. |
