|  | The transportation of bicycles is permitted in:
• The specialized coach for transportation of bicycles in the composition of express trains: ¹ 8601 (Sofia – Plovdiv – Bourgas), ¹ 8602 (Bourgas – Plovdiv – Sofia), ¹ 3601 (Sofia – Karlovo – Bourgas), ¹ 3602 (Bourgas – Karlovo – Sofia), ¹ 2601 (Sofia – Varna), ¹ 2602 (Varna – Sofia), ¹ 2607 (Sofia – Gorna Oryahovitsa), ¹ 2608 (Gorna Oryahovitsa – Sofia) and in fast trains ¹ 4612 (Gorna Oryahovitsa – Sofia) and ¹ 4613 (Sofia – Gorna Oryahovitsa);
• On the entrance platform of the last coach in the composition of all fast and passenger trains or in the luggage zone in electric multiple units. In case of a group of bikers, the bicycles are distributed on the entrance platforms of the other coaches in the train composition.
The bicycle transportation fee amounts to BGN 2.00 and is payable upon the purchase of a ticket from a ticketing desk.
The passengers take care of their own bicycles during journey time. In case the passenger fails to present a valid ticket for the bicycle, a fine should be paid, amounting to twice the below-given fees for the relevant distance in kilometers.
Bicycles can also be transported as consignments in those fast and regional trains which have in their composition a luggage-car. The passenger loads and unloads the bicycle himself/herself. In this case, the bicycles is considered as a consignment with a weight of 20 kg and the transportation fee in accordance with the transportation distance is as follows:
up to 100 km – BGN 2.80;
up to 200 km – BGN 3.20 ;
up to 300 km – BGN 3.70;
up to 400 km – BGN 4.30;
up to 500 km – BGN 4.80;
over 500 km – BGN 5.40
When a bicycle is transported as a consignment, it is required that the passenger takes down the bicycle accessories such as lamp, pump, instrument kit, bell etc. because “BDZ” EAD cannot be held responsible for them.
Transportation of bicycles is not allowed in regional and fast trains, operated with diesel or electric Desiros. |
