Strict measures against train delays

“Bulgarian State Railways” EAD report improvement in the punctuality of train operations. This is one of the main elements of railway service quality along with comfort and fares, which determine the degree of customer satisfaction.
In the last few weeks the average delays of fast and express trains were reduced to 18 minutes. The main reasons for the delays are the speed limits along some line sections, the thefts of railway infrastructure elements (catenary line, signaling, etc.), technical failures in the locomotives and train connections in junction stations.
In spite of the general improvement of train punctuality there still are some cases when the delays are due to subjective reasons. “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD apologize to their customers for the 20-minute delay at the departure of express train No 8601 from Sofia Central Station to Bourgas on 29th May. The reason for the delay was the belated attachment of an additional coach. The management of Central Division “Passenger Services” will impose sanctions onto three staff members for unprofessional performance of their obligations which caused the belated departure of the train.
