“Bulgarian State Railways” EAD will disburse the due amount for the last diesel trains

Today “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD started disbursing the due amounts for customs clearance of the last eight diesel Desiros. This was made possible after the state allocated additional funds to cover the costs of passenger services, performed by the railways in implementation of the Public Service Obligation (PSO).
Today “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD paid for four out of eight diesel train-sets and after the necessary technical tests are conducted the trains will be put in operation next week. The due amounts for the other four new trains will be disbursed next month.

Let us recall that hitherto 17 diesel trains are in operation along the non-electrified lines Sofia – Kiustendil, Plovdiv – Panagiurishte, Plovdiv – Dimitrovgrad – Momchilgrad, Plovdiv – Peshtera, Stara Zagora – Podkova, Varna – Kardam, Dobrich – Varna, Samuil – Silistra, Tcherkvitsa – Pleven – Svishtov. “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD report a 30% increase of the passenger flow along the routes, operated with the new diesel trains.
