Six trains were attacked with stones and a locomotive driver was injured

In the period between 4th - 6th July 2006 there were six incidents in which regional and fast trains were attacked with stones in different regions of the country. In result, seven window panes of passenger coaches were broken. No passengers or railway employees were injured.
On 5th July in Pernik Marshalling Yard a locomotive driver was attacked with stones. During shunting with freight wagons, he saw a group of four young men (approximately twenty years old) who were dismantling brake blocks from the wagons and were trying to take off the locomotive coupling. The engine driver got off the locomotive in order to prevent the stealing of the metal elements when the young offenders began throwing stones at him, which hit him in the right knee and in the breast zone. Before running away, the offenders made further threats against the locomotive driver.
The management of Bulgarian State Railways will provide a five-day holiday in a sanatorium to the engine driver for protecting the assets of the company.
