“Bulgarian State Railways” EAD put in operation four more diesel train-sets

As of tomorrow, 20th October 2006, “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD put in regular operation four more diesel train-sets Desiro. They will run along the routes Sofia – Kiustendil – Sofia, Kiustendil – Pernik – Kiustendil č Kiustendil – Radomir – Kiustendil č Kiustendil – Razhdavitsa - Kiustendil.

Trains will be heated as of tonight

As of tonight, “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD will heat all categories of passenger trains in accordance with the meteorological conditions and on the basis of judgment of the head of train crew. Particular attention will be given to the heating of the night trains when ambient temperatures are low.

A pilot Ro-La train went via Bulgaria

Today the pilot Ro-La train, operating along the route from Wels (Austria) to Halkali (Turkey) went via the territory of Bulgaria. For the first time combined services are operated at such a long distance (1 979 km) with a journey time of only three days. “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD have been involved in the development of this project for combined services since 2004.

Minister Mutachiev will reward the locomotive crew of the fast train

The Minister of transport, Petar Mutafchiev, issued an order for awarding the two locomotive drivers of fast train No 8615 for their exceeding professionalism and timely actions, which helped prevent casualties and damages during the accident at Kazichene station. Each of the locomotive drivers will receive a watch and a mobile phone.

The management of BDZ EAD held a series of meetings with railway personnel

The Executive Director of “Bulgarian State Railways” EAD, Oleg Petkov, held a number of meetings with railway personnel in the regional divisions of the company in the period 4th – 7th August. These events took place in Sofia, Varna, Gorna Oryahovitsa and Plovdiv. Each of the meetings was attended by the Minister of transport, Petar Mutafchiev. The aim of the meetings was to discuss key issues of the current situation and prospects of the railway company.

Six trains were attacked with stones and a locomotive driver was injured

In the period between 4th - 6th July 2006 there were six incidents in which regional and fast trains were attacked with stones in different regions of the country. In result, seven window panes of passenger coaches were broken. No passengers or railway employees were injured.

Bulgarian State Railways introduce 20-percent discount from the regular return fare for fast and express trains from Blagoevgrad, Kiustendil, Pernik, Sandanski, etc. to Varna and Bourgas for the summer season from 15th June to 30th September 2006.

International travel agency “Rila” launches new services

As of today Bulgarian State Railways through their subdivision – International travel agency “Rila” launch new services, including sales of bus tickets and reservation of airline tickets, as well as the electronic issuing of railway tickets for international journeys.
