A passenger train crashed into a metal object on the rail track
17/10/2005

Today around 12:10 pm in the railway line section between Iskar and Poduene the locomotive of the “Chaika” express train, this travels from Bourgas to Sofia, crashed into a metal object lying on the rail track. As a result of the collision the running gear of the locomotive has been damaged.
The cause for the incident is another act of aggression against the rolling stock of Bulgarian state railways. Earlier in the day, unknown offenders had thrown scrap metal out of a moving freight train. A great number of metal objects fell on the rail track and subsequently hindered the movement of the passenger train.

The passengers continued their journey to Sofia Central Station with the international train from Istanbul to Belgrade.
